SOLOIST SPOTLIGHT:  Carl Petersson Piano


Born in 1981 in Lund, Sweden, Carl Petersson started to play the piano at the age of fifteen. Ten years later he graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he completed both his studies in piano and pedagogy with Jose Ribera. During his studies he took part in numerous international masterclasses in Denmark, Sweden and Israel. Four times in succession he won a scholarship to the Tel-Hai International Piano MasterClasses, where he studied with Pnina Salzman, Victor Derevianco, Emanuel Krasovsky, Staffan Scheja and Nikolai Petrov. Carl has performed as a soloist as well as with orchestras on numerous occasions in Canada, the United States, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, France, the Czech Republic, Germany and Israel. In the autumn of 2012 he toured North America, performing Grieg's Piano Concerto seven times under Kerry Stratton. In 2013 he received his PhD from the Music Academy in Krakow, where he also assisted Mariola Cieniawa's class. In 2008 he made an acclaimed recording with the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra of the two piano concertos by the romantic composer Friedrich von Flotow, released on the Sterling label, and in 2011 he recorded Leopold Godowsky's Java Suite, again for Sterling, followed in 2012 by the duets for cello and piano of Jacques Offenbach and Friedrich von Flotow. During his Canadian tour he also made a live recording of Grieg's Piano Concerto at CBC (Canadian Radio). Currently Carl is recording for Grand Piano for which he has released two albums; Edvard Grieg and Helge Evjus piano concertos and one with Contemporary Danish piano music. Dr Carl Petersson is teaching at the Wroclaw Academy of Music in Poland.



SOLOIST SPOTLIGHT:  Anna Pietrzak Classical Guitar


Anna Pietrzak is a versatile guitarist and educator. She received her doctoral degree at the Academy of Music in Wroclaw, where she studied for Mark Zielinski. Before that she studied in Greece with Costas Cotsiolisa. Anna Pietrzak has received many awards in several solo and chamber-music competitions in Austria, Greece, Romania and Poland. Anna has released three albums, all of which received positive reviews in the established music press. British magazine "Classical Guitar" wrote that Anna Pietrzak is an important musician who can handle emotions and captivate audiences. Anna has performed with chamber ensembles and as a soloist with orchestras in Poland, Sweden, Greece, Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary and Slovakia. In 2017 she is invited to perform together with the Toronto Concert Orchestra in Toronto, Canada where she also will invited for master classes. Currently Anna Pietrzak teaches students in guitar and chamber music as well as pedagogy at the Academy of Music in Wroclaw, Poland.
